“OUR CUSTOMERS GAVE US A CLEAR DESIGN BRIEF; CREATE A MASK WITH UNPARALLELED FILTRATION PERFORMANCE, HIGH BREATHABILITY, FOCUSING ON COMFORT USING SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS. WE ALSO DECIDED TO MAKE IT LOOK DAMN GOOD.”
The technology starts at the source, with a specialised breeding program using the latest in farm science and husbandry practises to create elite sheep. These sheep are then carefully and responsibly farmed, harvesting a wool with optimal filtration properties - micro fibre diameters and crimped structures.
Using advanced manufacturing processes, the wool fibre is then electrospun into a fine matrix forming the most efficient filter in the world. The result is an incredibly powerful electrostatic field, which captures submicron particles at the lowest airflow resistance.
The AirWeave skin is designed with the filter in mind, perforated at key airflow zones optimising for breathability. The weave uses Australian Merino wool, selected for it’s breathability, low humidity and thermoregulating properties. AirWeave technology creates the skin as a single textile piece, enabling a structured shape which allows the mask to sit off the face.
"OUR PRODUCTS ARE DESIGNED FIT FOR PURPOSE AND UNDERGO RIGOROUS TESTING TO ENSURE THEY OFFER THE BEST-IN-CLASS PERFORMANCE."
With comprehensive filtration certified by FDA registered and ISO 17025 accredited Nelson Labs, the leading global provider of microbiological laboratory testing for MedTech and pharmaceutical companies. The Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) test determines how much protection a filter offers against bacteria, by administering the challenge organism Staphylococcus aureus to the filtration media at a constant flow rate. The filter media achieved a BFE of >99%.
Similarly, the Viral Filtration Efficiency (VFE) test determines how much protection a filter offers against viruses, by administering the challenge organism bacteriophage phiX174 to the filtration media at a constant flow rate. The filter media achieved a VFE of >99%.
"FILTRATION PERFORMANCE IS IMPORTANT IN PROTECTING THE USER FROM INHALING UNWANTED PARTICLES AND CONTAMINANTS. HOWEVER AS FILTERS ARE DESIGNED TO TRAP THESE CONTAMINANTS, THEY CAN BECOME A NEST IN WHICH BACTERIA CAN SURVIVE ON THE FILTER SURFACE."
The AirWeave Copper Filter is embedded with antibacterial copper technology, a naturally occurring mineral which guards against deterioration from microorganisms and inhibits the growth of bacterial odours. This keeps the filters fresh for up to 15 days use.
Tested by Microchem Laboratory in the United States, the copper filtration layer achieves >99.9% reduction of bacteriophage in Antibacterial Activity and Efficacy Testing.
"UNLIKE ITS SYNTHETIC COUNTERPARTS, MERINO WOOL ACTS AS A DYNAMIC BUFFER BY STABILISING TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY LEVELS, ADAPTING TO BOTH HOT AND COLD CLIMATES."
Merino wool releases twice as much moisture vapour as cotton, and 30 times as much as polyester, creating high airflow and low humidity. The thoughtful utilisation of natural performance materials leads to a significantly more stable and enjoyable breathing experience.
AUSAIR’S ANTI-FOG SYSTEM COMBINES AUSAIR’S AIRLOCK SEAL AND THE MOST BREATHABLE FILTRATION SYSTEM IN THE WORLD.
High pressure build up and an ineffective seal causes air to escape at the point of least resistance.
AusAir’s Airlock Seal combines 3D memory nose foam, adjustable nose bridge and ear loops allowing the mask to effectively shape to the contours of different face morphologies. This ensures a tailored fit and no gap in the seal.
The AirWeave is the most breathable filtration system in the world, providing high airflow and low pressure build up. This means exhaled air’s least point of resistance is the filter, not the nose bridge which leads to glasses fog.
HEALTH TEXTILES, THE NEW WEARABLE
COPPER IS A NATURALLY OCCURRING MINERAL INVOLVED IN MANY ESSENTIAL BODY FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING SEVERAL PROCESSES RELATING TO SKIN FORMATION AND REGENERATION.
Using material science and advanced manufacturing, copper is infused into the outer AirWeave filter layers, turning a passive non-woven textile into an active fabric.
In clinical studies, copper-infused textiles have been shown to significantly reduce facial skin wrinkles, increase skin elasticity and improve the overall well-being and appearance of the skin. It does this by increasing the secretion of skin proteins such as elastin and pro-collagen 1, stabilizing the extracellular matrix once formed. It’s no wonder super-foods such as almonds and avocado are rich in copper.
ANTIMICROBIAL AND ODOUR NEUTRALISING CARRY BAG
A PURPOSE BUILT ANTIMICROBIAL CARRY BAG, DESIGNED TO KEEP YOUR MASK CLEAN WHEN YOU ARE ON THE GO.
The bag is embedded with antibacterial copper technology, a naturally occurring mineral which guards against deterioration from microorganisms and inhibits the growth of bacterial odours. Tested by Microchem Laboratory in the United States, the copper filtration layer achieved >99.9% reduction of bacteriophage in antibacterial activity and efficacy testing.
